India International Trade Fair, Delhi

The ‘India International Trade Fair’ is an annual event held at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan, between 14–27 November. The event, organised by the India Trade Promotion Organization is one of the largest trade fairs in the world, both terms of exhibitor and visitor participation. Since its inception in 1980, it has evolved as a significant international event that sees involvement by the business communities from numerous countries, and an equally enthusiastic turn around of consumers and visitors.

1. IITF is one of the mega events in Delhi, so a full day will never be ‘too much time’ to stroll through all the stalls and galleries.
2. At IITF, visitors would get to know about a host of things – from startups to the latest innovations. From automobiles to advanced gadgets, crockeries to exotic decoratives, middle eastern dry foods to ‘desi pickles,’ precious jewellery to leatherwares, regional attires to organic goods – this fair is a marketplace for all these and more. It is easy to get lost in the sea of commodities. Hence it is suggested that you decide on your interests before you go.
3. The event also caters with several food joints offering local delicacies. Pragati Maidan has a food court offering different Indian cuisines, as well as a confectioneries, Chinese dishes, Italian fare, and fast food. The complex also houses some well-known restaurants.
4. The place is usually very crowded, and not a very ideal to take children. If you do take them, make sure you keep a constant eye. The place has a few wheelchair friendly areas, but all stalls are not accessible through ramps.
5. Public toilets are available. However, it must be warned that since the place is very crowded, the restrooms might not remain in the best conditions during the event.
