COMMITTEES
United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Agenda: Israel-Palestine Issue
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations, responsible for maintaining international peace and security. In this committee, delegates will address the longstanding and complex conflict between Israel and Palestine, a matter of grave concern that has implications far beyond the region. The Israel-Palestine Issue has been a central focus of international diplomacy for decades, characterized by territorial disputes, ongoing violence, and competing claims to land and resources. The committee will delve into the root causes of the conflict, including historical grievances, political divisions, and socio-economic disparities, in order to formulate effective and sustainable solutions.
Delegates will explore a range of issues related to the Israel-Palestine conflict, including:
Territorial Borders: Discussing the status of disputed territories such as Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, and exploring possibilities for territorial sovereignty and demarcation. Security Concerns: Addressing security challenges, including military interventions, terrorism, and border security, with a focus on ensuring the safety and well-being of all parties involved. Humanitarian Crisis: Examining the humanitarian situation in the region, including access to basic services, humanitarian aid, and the rights of refugees and internally displaced persons. Political Dialogue: Facilitating constructive dialogue between Israeli and Palestinian authorities, promoting confidence-building measures, and fostering a conducive environment for peaceful negotiations. International Engagement: Considering the role of the international community, including the United Nations, regional organizations, and other stakeholders, in promoting peace, stability, and reconciliation in the region. Delegates in the UNSC will be challenged to navigate complex geopolitical dynamics, balance competing interests, and find common ground in pursuit of a just and lasting resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. Through diplomatic negotiation, collaboration, and compromise, the committee aims to contribute to the advancement of peace.
United Nations Commission on the Status Women (UNCSW)
Agenda: Deliberation upon the Legalization of Prostitution and Rights of Women in Regard to Abortion
The United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW) is dedicated to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women worldwide. In this committee, delegates will address two pressing issues that impact the rights and well-being of women: the legalization of prostitution and women’s rights in regard to abortion.
Legalization of Prostitution: The debate surrounding the legalization of prostitution is multifaceted and complex. Delegates will examine the social, economic, and legal implications of legalizing prostitution, considering factors such as human rights, public health, gender equality, and the prevention of exploitation and trafficking.
Rights of Women in Regard to Abortion: The discussion on women’s rights in regard to abortion centers on access to safe, legal, and comprehensive reproductive healthcare services. Delegates will explore the various legal and social barriers that women face in exercising their reproductive rights, as well as strategies to promote gender equality and reproductive justice. Delegates in the UNCSW will engage in thoughtful deliberation, collaboration, and advocacy to address these complex and sensitive issues, with the ultimate goal of advancing gender equality, promoting women’s rights, and ensuring the health and well-being of all women and girls worldwide.
