SURYA COMMAND OF INDIAN ARMY CELEBRATES 10TH INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
Surya Command of the Indian Army celebrated 10th International Yoga Day based on the theme ‘Yoga for Self and Society’ at Lucknow on 21 June 2024, wherein all troops and families participated wholeheartedly with great vigour. The event witnessed huge footfall of participants who performed the asanas based on Common Yoga Protocol, as promulgated by Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH).
As a prelude to event, practice sessions were carried out for all troops, families and children at respective locations in the Lucknow Cantt for their physical & mental conditioning. On the 10th Intl Yoga Day, all troops and families of Lucknow gathered at 11 Gorkha Rifles Regimental Centre and performed the progressive asanas collectively under expert Yoga Instructors. After the initial brief on the essence of Yoga Kriya on the health of individuals, the instructors held an hour long practice session with demonstration of various asanas. The participants were introduced to health benefits of performing loosening practices, standing asanas, sitting asanas, prone asanas, supine postures, Kapalbhati, Pranayam and Dhyana, with prayer chants before and after the session.
The event promotes the rich cultural heritage of our nation, highlighting its relevance in the modern times & immensely benefitted all the participants by introducing them to benefits of good physical & mental well being.
